Description

This De Bethune Dream Watch 5 is a piece unique. The first De Bethune Dream Watch 5 appeared in January 2014. De Bethune describes the case shape as “delta-shaped,”

Sleek and entirely executed in 18k Rose Gold, the De Bethune Dream Watch 5 is extreme, yet elegant. The Dream Watch 5 is the most avant-garde case from De Bethune yet. This delta-shaped watch, which bears an uncanny resemblance to a miniature spaceship.

According to a press release from De Bethune, "This model positioned on the frontiers of an eclectic watchmaking scene is indeed not necessarily defined as a watch... The miniaturization of the mechanism demonstrates a clear-cut determination to give pride of place to design — as admirably demonstrated by the diminutive space allotted to the display of the hours, minutes and moon phase functions."

Regarded as one of the best independent watchmakers in the business, Denis Flageollet and his team know a thing or two about creating unique timepieces.

Despite its aesthetics, the Dream Watch 5 is actually functionally simple: it indicates the hours and minutes on discs that sit beside De Bethune’s trademark spherical moon phase, all visible through a tiny window at three o’clock.Powered by the same movement that is used by the DB28 Digitale.
The Dream Watch 5 houses De Bethune’s DB2144 hand wound calibre that offers a jumping hour display, rotating minutes disc, and a spherical moon phase display. The movement employs self-regulating twin barrels to supply a five day power reserve and both a silicon escape wheel and a silicon and white gold balance wheel number among its 329 components.

And the spherical moon phase is not just an unusual display, it is also accurate to a day in 1112 years, as compared to a day in 112.5 years for most moon phase displays.

It's a manually-wound jump-hour with minutes displayed on a rotating disc and a tiny rotating moon phase all viewed through an aperture in a spaceship-shaped mass of 18kt Rose Gold.
