Description

One-minute tourbillon and fusée-and-chain transmission are two of the most useful features that improve rate accuracy in this watch.

The time indicators are displayed on distinct displays on the Richard Lange Tourbillon 'Pour le Mérite' regulation dial. An isosceles triangle has its corners centered by the large top minute circle and the smaller subsidiary dials for the hours and seconds. Chronometer No. 93, made by Dresden watchmaker Johann Heinrich Seyffert (1751–1818), served as the model for this arrangement. He was one of the forerunners of Saxony's precision watchmaking in the late eighteenth century. During his excursions, renowned German natural scientist Alexander von Humboldt was among those who highly valued Seyffert's timekeeping devices and depended on their exceptional rate accuracy.
