The business bears the name Pierre Jaquet-Droz (1721–1790), a well-known watchmaker from Neuchâtel. The talented maker of watches, clocks, and so-called "Automatons," or mechanically driven characters, was Pierre Jaquet-Droz. The creator of these fabled, internationally renowned devices nearly burned at the stake for supposed witchcraft.
