Description

In a unique way, the 1815 TOURBILLON illustrates our ambition to never stand still. A particular brand of elegance typifies the face of the 1815 TOURBILLON – thanks to the intricate construction of a tourbillon with stop seconds, combined with the ZERO-RESET function.

The dial of the 1815 TOURBILLON is designed to focus on the essence: precise legibility of hours, minutes and seconds. The only evidence of the intricacy of the watch is exposed by the aperture in the dial at 6 o’clock, revealing the delicate tourbillon and its precise functioning.

Typical traditional design elements of the 1815 watch family include the eminently legible Arabic numerals and the peripheral railway-track minute scale. The elegant combination of a platinum case with a black enamel dial characterises this timepiece.

The 1815 TOURBILLON puts its eponymous complication in the spotlight. Due to its rotation, the delicate mechanism devised to increase rate accuracy constantly changes the position of the balance, thus compensating the influence of gravity on the oscillation system. To date, the tourbillon is one of the most fascinating complications in precision watchmaking.

In their pursuit of continued evolution, the Lange engineers equipped the traditional mechanism with two additional functions: the stop-seconds device makes it possible to stop the tourbillon at will by pulling the crown and to precisely set the watch ? a function that is not incorporated in conventional tourbillon constructions. Simultaneously, thanks to the ZERO-RESET mechanism, the seconds hand jumps to the zero position. Therefore, the minute hand can be precisely aligned with a minute marker.

The lavishly finished manufacture calibre L102.1 can be admired through the sapphire-crystal caseback. A diamond endstone secured by a screwed gold chaton is positioned in the centre of the tourbillon. The traditional element that A. Lange & Söhne once equipped the most precious 1A-quality watches with represents the lustrous highlight of this precision mechanical masterpiece.

The manufacture calibre features a freely oscillating Lange balance spring and a traditional screw balance that assures superb rate accuracy across the entire power-reserve duration of 72 hours. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour.
