Description

As is typical with independent Swiss watch brand, MB&F, making watches is also about having fun and thinking way outside of the box.

Offering hours and minutes on two aluminum domes that create the Bulldog's eyes (much like the eyes of the Frog-like HM3), the Bulldog gazes up at its owner as small triangular indicators point to the current time.

The HM10 is oval in shape (with a flattened end) to recall the shape of the bulldog body. The front of the case boasts a domed sapphire crystal through which the time is indicated on two cone-shaped orbs meant to resemble the dog’s eyes. The lugs of the watch, that connect the case to the strap are moveable, and are shaped to resemble the beloved bulldog’s legs.

Even better, just beneath the complex 3D movement of the watch – visible through the crystal dome – is the dog’s jaw with teeth bared. The teeth are actually the power reserve indication – open when fully wound and then closing as the bulldog is winding down and running out of power. With the angle of the teeth, they are visible only to the wearer.

The highly technical 301-part movement was designed and developed in house and equips Bulldog with 45 hours of power reserve so he can accompany his master anywhere he goes for almost an entire weekend.

Adding animation to the topside view and tying in a key element from MB&F's Legacy Machines, the HM10 also sports a floating balance wheel that hovers above and behind the "eyes." MB&F call the movement the Bulldog caliber, and it's a hand-wound movement with a 45-hour power reserve that ticks at 18,000 vph.
