Description
Vacheron Constantin’s limited Métiers d’Art series is dedicated to the voyages of great explorers. Each timepiece features a 40mm case in 18K yellow gold, housing an extraordinarily detailed dial that pays tribute to historic expeditions through hand-crafted enameling and engraving.
Part of the series is the Vacheron Constantin ref. 47070/000J-9085, depicting Christopher Columbus’s expedition through hand-crafted enameling and engraving. The dial, which represents the map utilized by Columbus in 1492, is hand-engraved in gold and finished with Champlevé enamel.
All dials move away from a conventional hour-and-minute layout, using wandering hours at the top of the dial and a retrograde minute hand that returns after each sweep. Vacheron Constantin powers this display with its in-house Caliber 1126AT, finished to Geneva Seal standards. The series places emphasis on narrative and handcraftsmanship, presenting each watch as a horological work intended for collectors.
